In order to submit, you need to complete a brief form describing the way in which you have engaged in research. There is no need to have a prior research experience on this particular topic.

Yes, you can submit an entry on behalf of a group of individuals. The submission process is the same and you will note this on the submission form.

No, you can submit as many entries as you want. At the same time, be mindful that quality of entries is more important than quantity. If you plan to submit your idea as a team or group of individuals, please avoid submitting multiple entries from members of the same team, and instead select a single individual to submit an entry on behalf of the team.

Finalists will be notified of their selection through email or telephone number. Applicants who are not shortlisted will not be contacted.

Individuals may enter the contest only once; an individual may not participate on more than one team.

No, you do not have to be from a specific field to be eligible. We believe that innovation is a multidisciplinary approach that involves a rigorous exchange of ideas. So we welcome young people from different backgrounds and fields of study.

Teams may consist of no more than four individuals meeting all the eligibility criteria.

The 4YBY contest is absolutely free to attend.

To ensure commitment and to avoid conflict of interest, you are not encouraged to join more than one team.

If you don’t know how to pitch ideas, don’t worry – learning is a huge part of this experience. We will have workshops on all subjects and mentors to answer questions and help out teams. Come with an open mind, you’ll work with a great team, learn a lot, and most importantly, have fun.
